Improvisation

AN INTUITIVE BODY – TOOLS FOR IMPROVISATION

I understand improvisation as a direct relationship between thought and action. Be in the present moment.

The proposal of this workshop is to create a state of availability from the body, to explore new possibilities of interaction with what surrounds us.

Starting from a receptive, relaxed and alert body at the same time, we will connect with our bone structure to find the sensation of muscle relaxation.

I am interested in the confrontation between thought and our body’s instinctive need for movement. We will investigate the constant friction between mind and body in motion. I believe that mental action cannot be separated from physical action, if we find a fluid connection between thought and action, we will be more present in the moment, our presence and our movement will be more precise.

In this workshop we will look for different ways of “thinking.” The body thinks in an intuitive, physical, spontaneous and creative way. We make decisions in motion, of which we are not aware, although they are not arbitrary.

We will explore that initial impulse that starts the movement. What puts us into action? Is the reaction a spontaneous impulse?

We will begin with a warm-up that leads us to a state of listening and physical receptivity.

In exploration through improvisation, we will begin with an individual listening: what is my rhythm, my impulse. We will continue with the research in pairs, dialoguing with another body. To begin to open ourselves to listening to the group and the space.

Classes- Training

AN AVAILABLE BODY

With more than 20 years of experience in teaching, her methodology and content of her classes  has been developed in conjunction with her work as creator and performer. A personal research has been enriched over meetings and collaborations with other artists. It has a special influence of the Release  Also it has incorporated elements from Feldenkrais method and Klein technique, whose influence enriched the anatomical approach.

Throughout her career she has taught at the SNDO Amsterdam and various schools in Europe as well as in Barcelona (Institut del Teatre BCN, dance studios Caldera, La Poderosa, AREA, Ramon Solé, Olga Tragant, Escola Superior EOLIA Dramatic Art, Barcelona among others).

Focusing on working the natural lines of the body and its energy,  thus allowing for greater fluidity in movement.
These classes are based in exploring exercises working the muscle surface to access a deeper level of support. This allows us to be more articulate, more connected to the ground and be able to project energy through the body.

The work is based on the dynamics of breathing and connecting parts of the body with the ground and space from our center.

We will deepen our awareness of physical sensations, to expand the movement options available, activate our energy and enrich the quality of movement.

Tune into our body to continue investigating and finding new places, possibilities and sensations.

Train a body available to dance.

COMPOSITION

The idea of these classes is to explore the dynamic relationship between improvisation and composition : how to transform an idea into movement. Deepen the friction between mind and body moving.

My work methodology is very collaborative, this means that I demand a great involvement of the participants, which enriches their creativity. We explore the possibilities of transforming a concept into a scenic expression, through the body, and at the same time being able to convey an idea.
Learning from everything that surrounds us, we try to understand the world through art, we look for our own personal language of expression and we question ourselves with each creation what message we want to convey.
I have worked in many schools, and I have a long experience in choreography work with groups of different disciplines.

Contact-Improvisation

Create a space in which to explore the fundamental principles of the Contact-Improvisation: Sharing the weight, balance, out of balance, relying on the ground, our partner and ourselves, momentum, handling, contact point for roll, down, up, and improvisation during movement.

Stage Presence

Individual/ group sessions for performers who want to develop their stage personality.

When we are on stage, whether we are actors, singers, musicians and every other type of performer, we transmit information that we are not always aware of. Stage presence is the main tool that we use for communicating with the public, and channels all our artistic potential.

The most important thing in communication with the public is the stage presence, and that is where we must channel all the artistic potential.
We will explore this presence using the physicality of the body itself.

HOW CAN IT BE ACHIEVED?
Developing awareness of one’s own body and therefore self-confidence. A body with a dynamic attitude is a confident body that maintains control.

Control of the space, filling it with your personality.

Developing your connection with the public.

Individual coaching will help you define your artistic identity, which will be reflected in your confidence as a performer.
